Igbo-Oloyin Archdeaconry

Archdeacon: The Ven. Dr. T. O. E. Popoola

Archdeaconry Seat: No seat assigned

Brief history:
St. John's Anglican Church, Igbo-Oloyin, now the headquarters of Igbo-Oloyin Archdeaconry, was founded in 1930. Originally a parish under Mapo Archdeaconry in the former Ibadan Diocese, it became an archdeaconry on June 17, 2000, under the vision of the Rt. Rev. Jacob Ademola Ajetunmobi, the first bishop of Ibadan South Diocese.

This made it the third new archdeaconry after Ona-Ara and Lukan.

The initial churches included St. Peter’s, Atere; St. Paul’s, Adeope; Emmanuel, Denlokun; St. John’s, Omilabu; and St. Andrew’s, Korukoru.

The first archdeacon was The Ven. S.O. Odunola, with the board's first meeting on August 11, 2000, and the first confirmation on January 25. Since then, Igbo-Oloyin has grown, strengthening its community and faith.
